Walk and Roll to School Day

October 6, 2021

Thousands of students across San Francisco will walk, bike, scoot, and roll to school on Wednesday, October 6.

The event builds yearlong excitement around getting to school in people-powered ways that are good for our health, environment, and communities.

How It Works: SFUSD Elementary Schools

  • Get the word out. Parents, caregivers, teachers, and principals are encouraged to promote this year’s Walk & Roll to School Day in a variety of ways. This can include setting up meet-up locations for students to walk together, including in your school’s newsletter, and more.
  • Get students excited. All SFUSD elementary school teachers will receive a Walk & Roll participation poster to hang in their classroom before October 6. Teachers are encouraged to talk about and remind students leading up to the big day.
  • Time to walk and roll! On Wednesday, October 6, students will mark how they arrived at school on their classroom’s tracking poster.
Submit participation to win prizes. Teachers will submit their classroom’s results by Thursday, October 7 at 5:00PM. (Submission form will be posted here before October 7). The winning classroom for each SFUSD elementary school will be announced the week of October 11. Prize packages and certificates will be shipped that week!
